Chewing On Scripture
The following is a close approximation of the homily I delivered on March 13, 2016 at St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Slidell. The reading were the 5th Sunday in Lent year C and can be found here.. The homily was based in the Gospel story of the woman caught in adultery.
Stories are the most powerful way to transmit history, culture, truth, and morality. A good story can inspire, change our way of thinking, our very beliefs. They have been used for these purposes since before recorded history. Stories stimulate the imagination, help us to learn, and hold our interest. It’s why a movie with a good story does so well at the box office. And it’s why I almost always tell stories with my homilies.
