Spreading the Faith: If Not You Who, If Not Now, When?
The following is an approximation of the homily I delivered at the 6PM Mass at St Luke the Evangelist in Slidell on May , 2016 for the Feast of the Ascension. The scripture on which this is based can be found by clicking this link.
“If not us , who?” If not now, when?” It is a stirring call to immediate and personal action. I can almost hear President Kennedy say those words in one of his speeches. Can’t you? However, contrary to popular belief, Facebook, and Wikiquotes, President John Kennedy never used this phrase in a speech. I have also seen this attributed to his brother Robert. Nope.. he did not use it either. And I have seen it attributed to Martin Luther King, Jr. Nope, he ever used this phrase in a public speech.
