Making Christ King of Your Life: What Does That Mean?
The following is a close approximation of a homily delivered November 20th, 2016 at St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Slidell., Louisiana The readings are for The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe and are available by clicking here.
I am going to start the homily today with a riddle. This is something that Donald Trump, your boss at work, your teachers, Barack Obama, Queen Elizabeth, Father Pat, and your parents have in common?
Answer: They all have authority, and that authority is an extension of the authority of God….
For people of faith, a proper understanding of the source, respect for, and use of authority is an essential part of the Christian life.
Today, the last Sunday of the liturgical year, we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King.
