Analogies and metaphors are often used make complicated things seem simple.  From the movie Forrest Gump, you will likely remember “Life is like a box of chocolates.  You never know what you’re gonna get”.  This is a simple explanation a complex issue – sometimes not matter what you do, you cannot control the outcome.  Even when you pick what you think is the chocolate covered caramel, sometimes you bite into the orange-raspberry crème.

An analogy that I am sure you have never heard of because I just made it up is that .. God is like pie.   Not the mathematical constant, but homemade apple, peach, cherry, and pecan pie.  And families are also like pie.  And families are like God.  Before you think I have lost my mind, allow me to tell you a story.
