In the wake of the most recent mass shooting  at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida there has been an increasing call for more gun control.  There has also been an the demand for more mental health services.   These are both interesting, probably needed, but neither of these solutions individually or together are going to resolve the problem.

Compared to what it will really take to address this issue, adding funding to mental health services or passing new gun legislation is relatively easy.  And, doing either of those two things is really hard. You see, the heart of the problem, as once written in the comic strip Pogo, is "We have met the enemy, and he is US."

A farmer knows that he cannot sow weed seed and expect to harvest corn.
