The following is a close approximation of the Homily I delivered at St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Slidell, LA for May 20, 2018, Pentecost Sunday Year B, at the 6:00 PM Mass/  The scripture readings on which this is based can be found be clicking this link.

Are you successful in life?  Or, do you want to be? And exactly what does that mean? Some say that financial security is success.  Others, having a good education.  Perhaps it is a rewarding career.  Or maybe you measure success as having raised a good family.  These and many others are certainly worthy goals. However, as Catholics, the two top measurements of success are: Did you / are you living your life in way that gets you to heaven and have you done anything to spread the faith to help others get to heaven.

The following is a close approximation  of a homily I delivered for the 5th Sunday of Easter, Year B at the 9:00 AM Mass at St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Slidell, LA. The scripture readings on which this was based can be found at this link.

In more than one way, this homily is going to be about gardening. Many of you know that I have been a gardener since I was a small child.   I like to start and grow my own plants. There is more than one way to start a new plant.
