Shame and Guilt: When it Can Be A Good Thing
The following is a close approximation of the homily I delivered at the 9:00 AM Mass at St Luke, Sunday June 10th, 2018 for the 10th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B at Evangelist in Slidell. Thanks to Fr. Warren Cooper for giving me the privilege of preaching at a Mass for which I was not scheduled to preach. The scripture readings on which this is based can be found at this link
I was quite a rascal as a child. There was almost noting that I would not do. However, one thing I did not do was lieā¦until I was four years old. On that occasion, I was with a group of children chasing a cat, carrying my new prized Christmas gift, a Mattel Tommy Gun! For whatever reason, I threw the gun at the cat, missed, and hit a house. The butt of the gun cracked into small pieces.
